Causes

The feet carry the weight of your entire body. They support your structural frame, flesh, organs, bodily fluid and excess weight, if you have it.

They do a lot of work, absorb a lot of impact and take every form of punishment resulting from the activities in your daily life. But what if you then decide to stretch your body at the gym, join a sporting team, and what if you have a structural issue?

These additional factors put greater load on your feet, hips, knees and back. For example: Overpronation, where the feet roll inwards, may cause legs to rotate inwards, placing additional load on knees, damage, wear and pain. Limb length variance is another common issue leading to back or hip pain.

Problems in your feet eventually affect other parts of your body. The role of your podiatrist is to help you compensate for issues in your structure or overuse, so that you can enjoy an active, mobile life.

Treatment

Your podiatrist will ask about your unique situation, your issues, symptoms, your daily activity needs and medical history before conducting a clinical exam. The diagnosis and treatment recommendation to address your issues will be carefully explained to you. A Treatment plan is tailored specifically to the needs of each individual.

• R.I.C.E. THERAPY

• Mobilization and Manual Therapy
